Our Sales

Pippa Deeley Auctions is a small, friendly and professional country auction house which offers good results, great service and very competitive fees.  We are based on the Kent and East Sussex border between Hastings and Tunbridge Wells in the picturesque village of Bodiam.

We currently hold two sales per year, in the Spring and Autumn, of silver, jewellery, ceramics, glass, pictures, collectables, works of art, clocks, watches, scientific instruments and books.  We do not sell furniture.  The sales are available to view online two weeks before the auction and viewing is available by appointment at our offices at Quarry Farm, Bodiam.  Auctions are held off-site at Bodiam International Arena based at Court Lodge Farm in Bodiam, which is five minutes drive from our offices.   The venue is a large viewing gallery which overlooks an indoor riding arena.  Bidding can take place online via our Website or with The Saleroom or Easy Live Auction, by commission bids left with the auctioneer, or in person, with all lots being shown on a screen.  Following the sale lots can be collected, once paid for, from our offices.  There is no viewing available on sale day.

Due to our sales format and compact business design our overheads are kept to a minimum and we are not registered for VAT.  We are therefore able to pass these savings onto our clients.  Our Buyer’s Premium is 20% inclusive.  Other costs may be incurred by the buyer depending on their choice of bidding platform.  For more information on online bidding fees please visit our Bidding & Saleday page

Our Seller’s Fees are very straightforward with commission charged at 20%, and a lotting fee of £2 per lot entered.  These two charges include cataloguing, photography, online auction listings, general administration, loss and damage warranty and storage costs.  There are no addition charges such as a minimum fee, and we do not charge for unsold lots.  This means that our seller’s fees are very competitive.

We have also chosen to be regulated by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.  This means not only are our valuers qualified and registered by the RICS, but also the firm is highly regulated in its behaviour and in dealing with client money.  Sellers can be assured that their money is kept in a separate and secure account which is constantly reconciled and should anything happen to the business their money would be held securely and could not be used for any other purpose.  For further information please see our Terms of Business

Payment for lots is required by bank transfer, or via electronic payment request for buyers who bid via our website or with The Saleroom.  This option is not available to buyers who bid via Easy Live Auction.  We do not take cash and we do not have the ability to take card payments either in person or via telephone.  For more information regarding payment methods please go to our Payment and Collections page.  Our minimum bid is £20.

We recommend the services or our local branch of Mailboxes Etc. who are based in Tunbridge Wells, as we do not have an in-house P&P facility.  However, if a purchase is small (such as a piece of jewellery) and suitable to be posted within the UK in a small padded envelope we will send items, at our discretion, via Royal Mail Special Delivery for a minimum charge of £20.  Please contact us to ascertain whether a lot is suitable for this service.  We urge all potential buyers to take into consideration the cost of P&P before bidding.
